Hello, my name is Mike Lorenz. I'm a high school art teacher in St.Louis, Missouri. When my twin boys were born a number of years ago, I painted a mural on the walls of their nursery. Friends and family liked it, and soon asked me to do work for them. As word of mouth spread, painting blossomed into a small side business for me. I've set up this site to showcase projects that I've done, and to give people who are interested in having a mural painted a way see what I can do. If you're looking to have a mural or some other sort of wall art painted in your home and you like what you see, please contact me. My prices are very reasonable, and the subject matter is only limited by your imagination. Thanks for looking.

Winnie the Pooh

Here are a couple of so-so pictures of the Winnie the Pooh mural I painted for our boys' nursery 6 1/2 long years ago. It wrapped around 3 walls. I tried to incorporate interests of my wife and I (art, music, softball, the St.Louis Cardinals, etc.) into a picture of Winnie the Pooh characters (to match the crib bedding). I liked it a lot, and it stunk having to leave it behind when we moved out. We've been in a house of our own, so to speak, for a little over a year, and I still haven't gotten around to painting anything like this in the kids' room. I suppose time was a little easier to come by before the kids were born...

Back to the Jungle

I painted a nursery for the same couple that commissioned the polka dots. They wanted a mural based on their crib bedding to cover one wall of the room. The whole thing measured approximately 11"x 5". The elephant, lion, and crocodile were taken from the bedding, while the monkeys were based on a similar room I had painted before with almost identical bedding. The animals and plants were arranged so that the baby's name could be added to the middle of the wall after he was born.

Polka Dot Heaven

This is a 3 year old little girl's bedroom. The walls were originally just the background pink - big and blank. Her parents wanted an 18" border of polka dots about 2/3 of the way up the wall. I used 4 different sizes of dots and 3 different colors, which the clients had already chosen. I wanted the border to read as a solid texture without looking like a repeating pattern. I think it came out nicely, and gives an upbeat and animated feel to the room.

Jungle Nursery

Here are some pictures of the bedroom that I painted when my nephews Shawn and Connor were born, almost 3 years ago. The animals were based on the pattern of the bedding and curtains, with added vines and bushes. The wall with the monkeys is 10 feet long, and the wall with the giraffe and tiger is 13 feet long. The sign and frog is about 4 feet tall.
